The Trick to Applying Liquid Eyeliner

Applying eyeliner is something I have struggled with for years. I discovered early on that I preferred liquid eyeliner to pencil, but liquid is much harder to apply perfectly. I have blue eyes, so I use black mascara and eyeliner and a smudge of black eyeliner is very hard to get rid of without accidentally removing anything else you've already applied.
I had tried using all different types of eyeliner for years. I would buy a pencil, then I bought one in.a bottle, then I would go back to another pencil, then a third pencil, and after a few years a found the Stila All Day Stay Liquid Waterproof Eyeliner. It's easy to hold and the fine tip allows for small corrections. Once again, I turned to my makeup guide YouTube and found a lot of really helpful videos, and I've combined what I thought were the most helpful tips below. If you want to watch someone while having it explained I found this to be the most helpful video.
1. Hold Your Eye
Hold your eye steady by placing your non dominant index finger at the end of your eye and pulling slightly. This is a little confusing, but the video link above shows this tip if you would like to see it demonstrated.
2. Start in the middle of your eyelid
If you are using a fine tip liquid eyeliner like me, start in the middle of you eyelid and hold the brush at an angle so you get a larger line. Now slowly drag the brush out toward the end of your eye. Starting in the middle gives you more control because you don't have to hold the brush steady for as long as you would if you started from the corner, and therefore there is less opportunity for a mistake.
3. Fill in the Corner
Once you have completed one half, return to the corner of your eye and begin to fill in the corner to the middle.
4. Corrections and Touch Ups
Using the fine tip I usually go over some spots that came out lighter than others and just fill them in a little more. If you do have any unwanted lines you can dip a q-tip in makeup remover and carefully remove smudges and lines.
5. Lower Lash Line
The bottom lash line is usually my last step because I find it easier to do, and I don't do it all the time. I follow generally the same steps by starting in the middle and working out.
Other tips:
The only other tips I have are work slow and practice. Eyeliner is something you don't want to rush because you will spend more time correcting it. Also, it just takes practice. I try to practice whenever I have time usually when I don't have to go somewhere right away in case it turns out horribly.
These are the eyeliner tips I have found useful so far, and I hope if you find it as challenging as I do you will find these tips helpful!
