Winter Essentials

even though winter is almost over I thought I'd share my winter essentials that every prepster needs to survive a New England winter.

One: J.Crew Vest
This vest is an absolute must have!! It's perfect for winter because it is warm yet still looks stylish. I wear mine practically everyday over a sweatshirt, Patagonia etc. These vests are sold in many different colors and patterns at both J.Crew and J.Crew Factory and now would be a great time to buy since it's the end of the season and they will be on sale.
Two: Bean Boots
I went skiing in Europe last winter and I didn't bring any shoes except for my Uggs and ski boots. Don't get me wrong I love my Uggs but wearing them on a ski mountain where they get wet and water stained was a terrible idea! My Uggs were completely ruined and I decided then that I needed water proof boots. I had seen Carly (the college prepster), Sarah Vickers, and other bloggers wear them. I still wasn't completely sold until my friend bought a pair that she absolutely loved, so I gave them a try along with L.L. Bean boot socks and a pair of J. Crew Camp socks. As it turned I absolutely love them! They are definitely one of the best purchases I made all winter!

Three: Blanket Scarves
Blanket scarves were extremely popular this season, even small stores in my town started selling them. They're great for winter because they can dress up any winter outfit. My favorite way to wear a blanket scarf is in a triangle fold but you can style it many different ways, if you need any ideas search tying a blanket scarf on Pinterest and you can find tons of different options with tutorials.
Four: Patagonia
Patagonia has great pullovers for the winter. I love to put mine on after going (and with my J. Crew vest). But I also found these true grit pullovers on Pinterest and I have to admit I'm a little obsessed and thinking about buying one. They are a little more expensive so if you are looking for a less pricy pullover Pink had a few cute ones and they might have a few left.
Five: Riding boots
My riding boots are probably one of my favorite things I own. I have three pairs one in tan, brown, and black and I wear them pretty much
everyday. When I bought my last pair I couldn't decide between these and a pair of black over the knee boots. I felt very bad for the salesman because I asked to try on pretty much every pair in the store. I love my riding boots but I am still thinking about getting a pair of over the knee boots for next winter. Riding boots (and over the knee boots) are great options for winter because they can make any outfit look stylish. If your are looking for riding boots, Ralph Lauren, Coach, Michael Kors, and Tory Burch have great ones.
